Log Cabin Quilts

While I was purchasing purple fabric at my LQS I looked over at the wall and they had the most gorgeous quilt displayed.  I'm not a big fan of log cabin quilts as they are a redundant block, but I knew I wanted this kit.

The pattern is from Judy Martin's "Log Cabin Quilt Book" and it's called "Shoreline Log Cabin".  The lady had done the quilt in pinks/browns and it blew me away.

Here's the book:

Here's the pattern:

And here's the fabric:

All those yummy pinks and browns are just begging to be used, but it will be a later project.  I have 9-patches to do.  There's no more room on my table for another mess.

Beautiful quilt and colors! Sometimes you just need a good redundant quilt block!

I made this quilt! It was a lot of work, but well worth it! I made it for my mother-in-law for Christmas. I started piecing it on Thanksgiving, worked on it about 18 hours a day between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and had the center part done enough to give to her at Christmas. Then I took it back and put on the outer border. You need to be pretty organized to make it. Each block has 72 pieces in it, and the smallest piece is 1 inch by 3/4 inch. I followed Judy's directions regarding organization, they were pretty good.

Good luck!
