Blackwork Quilt Designs

Been working on a new quilt. I love blue and white quilts and fell in love with a Blackwork embroidery set of designs. I stitched them out in blue and am working on a quilt for it.

Here's a block from the set of Blackwork designs. I haven't trimmed the block down to size yet.

From Quilted with Love

I played with several layouts and really like this one:
My worry is that the stars will overshadow the Blackwork blocks and they get lost. Paper piecing these blocks would take hours and I worry about losing interest in them.

The blocks are 8 inch blocks set on point. Even without the embroidered blocks, it would be a stunning quilt. I would just make the blocks a lot larger for easier piecing.

Here's another quilt that might work as well. It's much simpler but rather boring.

I love your embroidery work. Your EQ6 designs are great as well. But I'm thinking along the same lines as you, if I'm understanding what you're saying about placing the embroidery blocks with the EQ6 design. Those star type blocks are very powerful but it's possible that the embroidery work would tone them down.
Does that make sense?

Very Nice! I love two colored quilts! I love both quilt designs but I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the star quilt!

Love the top design.

I've done that block but didn't pp it.
For the star points I sewed three ( or is it four) strips of fabric together to get the stripes and then used a template to cut the points out. I then sewed the block together as normal. It's a lot quicker. you've just got to be careful when cutting out the points. Make sure the template is centred on each strip piece and do a sample first to make sure you are cuttting them out right.
